- Complete the course to receive the associated certificate.
- Sign in to your Gusto Pro account.
- Go to the Professional Growth section and select Education.
- Click your profile picture in the top right and select My Profile from the dropdown.
- Choose the course you want to download or share your certificate, which includes your CPE details.
- To download your training history, go to History from the dropdown.
- Select Print History to download as a .pdf file.

Payroll Essentials: For accountants and bookkeepers
The Payroll Essentials learning track teaches you critical skills to manage payroll more confidently and unlock the true power of Gusto. Get certified to demonstrate your knowledge to clients and colleagues, or take an elective to navigate advanced topics.
People Advisory: For aspiring advisors
The People Advisory learning track teaches you how to combine your accounting skills with Gusto’s data insights to turn payroll into a path toward people operations advising. Become a certified People Advisor to improve your soft skills, suggest actionable steps based on team metrics, and deliver more value than ever before.
Practice Management: For firm leaders
The Practice Management learning track teaches you how to package and sell People Advisory to increase revenue for your firm. Complete the People Advisory Accelerator to learn how to package and price and sell People Advisory services, so you can grow recurring revenue at your firm.
Complete elective courses to earn more CPE credits, badges, and prestige. All electives can be found on the Catalog page of Gusto Academy under the Topics dropdown in the top-right corner.
Complete every module before accessing the quiz. You’ll need a passing score of 80%, and you have an unlimited number of attempts to pass.
- If needed, you can revisit course materials by navigating back to course contents.
After completing electives, you’ll receive a course completion email which contains access to:
- A badge kit .zip file of badges in different colors and sizes
- A link to update your email signature
- A link to redeem your physical pin
Badges can be used on your website, email signature, and any other digital or print marketing collateral. This badge showcases your accomplishment to prospective and current clients and sets you apart as having a strong foundational understanding of Gusto.

Our Gusto Payroll, People Advisory, and People Advisory Accelerator certification programs are designed to help you grow your career and your firm. Every certification you complete earns you invaluable skills, CPE credits, and badges.
All certifications can be found on the Catalog page of Gusto Academy under the Topics dropdown in the top-right corner.
Complete every module before accessing the quiz. You’ll need a passing score of 80%, and you have an unlimited number of attempts to pass (except the Gusto Payroll Certification Fast Track).

The Fast Track lets you test out of Gusto Payroll Certification. You’ll be asked 25 questions, and you need an 80% to pass—meaning you need to get at least 20 answers correct.
- This Fast Track Quiz can only be taken once, and if you don't reach the 80% pass mark, you’ll need to take the Payroll Course to certify.
- The start button will be unavailable after passing or failing the test.

Q: I completed certification in Gusto Learn. Will my certification status pass to Gusto Academy?
A: Yes—if you completed certification, and it’s not reflected in your Gusto Academy profile, reach out to glearnsupport@gusto.com.
Q: I started a course in Gusto Learn but never finished. Why does my progress not show in Gusto Academy?
A: Certifications needed to be completed before 9/5/22 in order to transfer to Gusto Academy. You’ll need to start over on any certification and begin new available courses.
Q: Where can I find CPE details for certification courses?
A: You can find NASBA details in the Appendix section of each course landing page.
Q: Can you award CPE credits for the Gusto Payroll Certification Fast Track?
A: Unfortunately, no—CPE credits are only awarded for teaching courses, not for completing exams.
Q: What’s the difference between Accelerator and Certification?
A: The People Advisory Certification course covers the basics. It’s great for accountants and bookkeepers who want to learn to advise clients on payroll, benefits, and people operations.
The Accelerator Program is more specialized and was built to help leaders package, staff, price, and deliver People Advisory as an additional service at a firm. It’s a powerful addition to the People Advisory Certification course, but can be taken on its own as well.
Q: What topics does Accelerator cover?
A: The Accelerator Program is all about monetization and marketing. The first section will teach you how to package, staff, and price People Advisory as a new service offering. After that, you’ll get marketing frameworks and learn how to use value-selling in client conversations.
Q: How long does "Live" Certification take?
A: "Live" Certification is a full day of training, including a morning session, lunch break, and afternoon session. Training typically runs from 9am to 3:30pm MT.
Q: How many people can attend People Advisory "Live" Certification?
A: Our "Live" Certification training caps at 30 registrations per session. Check out Gusto Academy to see which months have open spots.
