Admins with the required permissions can cancel the Gusto plan at any time. If you previously canceled an account, you may still be able to reactivate it.

Important reminders

  • Read the info you need to know before you cancel.
  • If your invoice (bill) comes from someone besides Gusto, you'll need to work with them to cancel your account.
  • We bill retroactively, so you'll get a final invoice the month after your cancellation. The final invoice will include any tax filing fees that may apply.
  • You cannot cancel your account if a payroll is in progress.
    • In progress means you've submitted the payroll, and it has a check date of today, or later. Once your last check date passes, you can cancel.

FAQ

Q: Can I pause my Gusto subscription?

A: There is no pause option. If you're a seasonal company, or you are not running payroll for a short period of time, you can keep your account active so that Gusto continues to file for you.
