Learn what types of documents employees and contractors have access to in Gusto.

                  For employees and contractors
 You can find and download your forms in your Gusto account. These may include tax and compliance forms, other important documents, and files your employer uploaded.
 For admins
 If you have the right permissions, you can view and download documents for your team in several ways, depending on the type of form:
  - From a teammate’s profile  - Go to the Documents tab in the teammate's profile.
 
- From Tax documents  - Go to Taxes & compliance > click Tax documents > choose the right tab or document from the page.
 
- From Company documents  - Go to the Documents section > click the Company tab > pick the document you need.
 
View and manage employee documents  For employees
 Employees can go to the Documents section in their Gusto account to see and download the forms available.
 For admins
 If you have the right permissions, you can view employee documents by following these steps:
  - Go to the People section.
- Use the search, or filter, to find an employee.
- Click the Documents tab.
- Under the “Actions” column, click View.  - If you can perform other actions, click the three-dot menu to see what they are.
 
- Download or print the PDF.
Employee documents you might see include:
  - Employee Direct Deposit Authorization – This document authorizes Gusto to initiate debits and credits from a bank account to pay people.
- W-4 Employee Withholding Allowance – This document records the employee's tax withholding allowance.
- I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification – This document records a person's authorization to work in the USA.
- Report of New Employee – This document reports new hires to the state where someone is employed (for example in California this is form DE-34)
- W-2 Wage and Tax Statement – This document reports annual wages, taxes, deductions, and other salary information.   - The information on your W-2 is needed when preparing your federal income tax return—Forms W-2 typically become available in Gusto in mid-January for the previous calendar year.
 
- Other files – Documents the company uploaded to the employee's profile.
    View and manage contractor documents  For contractors
 Contractors can go to the Documents section in their account to see and download their forms.
 For admins
 If you have the right permissions, you can view contractor documents by following these steps:
  - Go to the People section.
- Use the search, or filter, to find a contractor.
- Click on the Documents tab.
- Under the “Actions” column, click View.  - If you can perform other actions, click the three-dot menu to see what they are.
 
- Download or print the PDF.
Contractor documents you might see include:
  - 1099-NEC Non-Employee Compensation – This document reports payments processed through Gusto for the year in Box 1 (non-employee compensation).
- W-9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification – Form where the contractor gives their tax info.
- Other files – Documents the company uploaded to the contractor's profile.
