These options are available for Simple, Plus, and Premium plan customers, but are not included in the contractor-only plan.

You can view and sign copies of your personal forms in your Gusto account (including custom documents uploaded by your employer). Not all documents need to be signed—only documents that require an e-signature will prompt you to sign the form.

You can also upload and store documents to your employee or contractor account—once uploaded, documents will be available to you and your company administrator moving forward.

View and sign personal forms—like Form W-2, W-4, and I-9

Here's how to view, sign, and download forms in your Gusto account:

  1. Sign in to your Gusto account.
    • If you're having trouble getting access, get help signing in here.
    • If you have more than one Gusto profile, learn how to switch between your profiles.
  2. Go to the Documents section.
  3. Use the search bar, filter options, or scroll to find the document.
  4. Click on the document name to view or download it.
    • If you're looking for a previous year's W-2 or 1099, these become available in mid-to-late January. Gusto will email you to let you know when they're available—reach out to your employer directly if you're missing forms you expected to see.
    • If you need to update your W-4, head to this article.
  5. If the document needs to be signed, click Sign Document and e-sign it.
    • At this time, we will not notify admins when a document is signed—you can let them know, and they can view the signed document in your profile.

If you're having issues accessing your account, confirm the email address on your account with your payroll admin.

Upload or remove documents on your employee or contractor account

The ability to upload a document is available for Simple, Plus, and Premium plan customers, but is not included in the contractor-only plan.

If a document needs to be customized, employers can create and share custom docs (as needed).

Upload a document to your account

  1. Sign in to your employee or contractor Gusto account.
    • If you have more than one Gusto account using the same sign-in credentials, you can switch between profiles as needed.
  2. Go to the Documents section.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of all the existing documents, and click Upload a Document and select the file that you would like to upload.
  4. Name the document.
  5. Click Upload.
    • The following types of documents are supported: PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, TXT, JPEG, PNG, and GIF.

Remove a document

Removing a document is only available for certain forms that do not need to be stored for payroll or HR records.

If a document can be deleted, hover over it and click Delete document.
